Dr. Calvin M. Sweeney, PhD
Innovative, insightful and wise are just some of the words often used to describe Dr. Calvin Sweeney. He is a pastor, author, educator, and international conference speaker, one who is often contacted and sought out for counsel by many pastors and leaders from around the region and country. He earned a doctoral degree in Educational Theory and Leadership from the University of Toledo and is a member of the distinguished Pi Lambda Theta fraternity, a fraternal organization for educators with high academic standing. He also graduated from Vision International University with a certificate of Biblical Studies.
Dr. Sweeney is a pastor with a simple, but powerful, vision to see the world illuminated by radical acts of godly love. His preaching and teaching focuses on thought leadership, love and transformation as believers are equipped to walk in demonstration, in addition to declaration. Dr. Sweeney has published in the academic arena, specifically within the areas of his secular studies, education and organizational leadership. He is now working on writing projects that focus on the kingdom of God expanding its effect and influence in all areas of society.
Not only is Dr. Sweeney noted as a powerful man of God, gifted teacher, and intellectual leader, but he is also an accomplished athlete—one that dominated in three different sports. He was a two-time state wrestling champion in high school, and also wrestled at the collegiate level, earning a scholarship for his athletics as well as his academic ability. He also was a five-time speed skating champion, North American continental martial arts champion, and holds a black belt in karate and a black belt level in Shaolin Kung Fu. Additionally, he was also selected to represent the USA in the PanAm games.
Dr. Sweeney’s passion is engaging Christian and civic leaders at various levels to bring about transformation in individuals and communities. His focus is assisting individuals, churches, ministries, and organizations through training on leadership and thought development so that their God-given visions and dreams are able to become realities.
He and his wife, Christine, have been married for sixteen years and have six children.
